Prayer Scriptures

                                                    PRAY WITHOUT CEASING

Jesus went to pray asking his first disciples:

"Could you not watch with me one hour?" Matt 26:40; Mark 14:37

The Lord Jesus, Head of the Church, our Savior, Messiah, Son of God, asks his church the same question today.

Watch and Pray--- Watch for his returning signs and pray!

The emphasis on this page is WATCH and PRAY!

Scripture texts are given to guide us all into praying better.

This spiritual act is crucial for anyone to grow in Christ.

Praying is developing our communication with God Almighty.

Praying can become an act of worship depending on what we say and do in times of prayer.

Praying lets more of God into our everyday lives because we open our heart wider and deeper for him to dwell.

Praying is developed into a regular lifestyle of every growing Christian.

Mature Christians have this new lifestyle.

Our transformation into the image of Christ consists of obedience to God's written word.

Praying is one of those most important new lifestyle changes that proves our faithfulness to God through Christ Jesus.

The Lord Jesus example of praying is the best example even though other examples are given in the Bible.

By praying, we obey the Lord's instructions to pray, we spiritually grow, things happen in the supernatural realm and prayer pleases God.

God is listening: prayers are like incense as Revelation says and God answers prayers that are in line with his word.

These are the Revelation texts: Rev 5:8; 8:3; 8:4. All say: incense, odours, the smoke of the incense with the prayers of the saints.

Here are some texts to teach us and get us into deeper prayer as we watch for the Lord's return:

"Therefore, Watch, for you know not what hour your Lord doeth come. But know this that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would not have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken up." Matt 24:42-43

(Referring to the the Lord's returning like a thief in the night, quick, silent and know one in the world knew he came until the next day when the property is reported gone. The Resurrection/Rapture will happen like this. The house is our life built on the rock but we are not told the exact time of the Lord's return for his church. Therefore, if the church did know the exact time, the Lord saying the church would not watch and pray. ( Must be a human character flaw of laziness.) So, our life would be not be ready and broken up. I think, the lesson is to be ready for the Lord by watching for his return signs and be much in prayer about everything. In doing so, we will be spiritually alert in everything we need to be doing in the kingdom now.)

" Watch, therefore for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh" Matt 25:13

"Then came Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane and said unto the disciples, you sit here while I go and pray yonder.

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

Then said he unto them, my soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death, Tarry here and watch with me.

He went a little further and fell on his face and prayed saying, 'O my Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will but as you will.'

And he came unto the disciples and finds them asleep and said unto Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation: the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." Matt 26:36-41
